Tamil Nadu Election Results 2026 : In a landmark political shift, actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026. Contesting its maiden election, TVK secured 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, falling just 10 short of the majority mark but successfully ending the long-standing dominance of the DMK-AIADMK duopoly.

Government Formation Updates

Vijay is now actively seeking the support of VCK (Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi) and other smaller parties including the Left and PMK to comfortably cross the majority line. Coalition negotiations are progressing, and with Congress’s backing already in place, TVK is strongly positioned to form the next government.
Vijay is expected to be invited by the Governor shortly to take oath as Chief Minister.
