He was born on July 7, 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He spended most of his childhood in Ranchi with a middle class family. His schooling was from DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir and college was from St. Xavier’s College. But he did not attend full time college because cricket schedule.

MS Dhoni’s journey into cricket was unexpected and full of challenges. Initially, he was more interested in football and badminton, but fate had other plans for him. He was a goalkeeper for his school’s football team at DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Ranchi. He also excelled in badminton, playing at the district level.

His school coach noticed his reflexes and asked him to try wicketkeeping for the school cricket team. He reluctantly agreed to play as a wicketkeeper and surprised everyone with his natural talent. He quickly became the school team’s star player due to his sharp reflexes and power-hitting ability.

He started playing for the Commando Cricket Club in Ranchi and performed exceptionally well.
