UP mosque violence: On Sunday morning November 24,2024 a violence started down in sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh outside a mosque. According to the reports several people were killed and injured during the violence including some of the police officer.

What is the main reason behind the survey?

An order was pass by a local court on Tuesday, November 19,2024 to start a survey in Shahi Jama Masjid in Chandausi town after the petition claiming that a temple was demolished to build the mosque in 1526. This order was pass by Aditya Singh, Civil judge (Senior Division) at Sambhal, Chandausi.

This petition was filed on Tuesday afternoon and within an hour order was pass to start the initial survey at the mosque. This survey was conducted on the same day of filling of petition. The report of survey will be passed till November 29, 2024.

How did the violence start?

The violence stated during the second round of survey on Sunday morning. Many people gather around the mosque and stated protesting. They started burning vehicles around the masjid and throwing stones on police officials. Gunshots were also heard in the area of protest. In this violence 5 people were killed and 20 police officer were injured.

After the police investigation, till now 20 people are been taken into custody for violence and protest during the survey in the mosque.

Shahi Jama Masjid or Sambhal mosque importance.

Jama masjid or sambhal mosque comes under the centrally protected monument of the chandausi town according to December 22, 1920 report under section 3, sub section (3) of ancient monument preservation act, 1904. It is also declared as monument of national importance and also figured on ASI official site.

Hari Shankar Jain and other petitions reported in Sambhal Court.

Till now eight petitions have been filed in sambhal court. This also includes advocates Hari Shanker Jain petition popularly known for Gyanvapi mosque and Kashi Vishwanath case and dispute. In this petition it is stated that centuries ago a temple was made here for Lord Kalki this temple is known as Shri Hari Har temple, which is now been use by Jama Masjid committee after the invasion of Babur and Aurangzeb.

It is also stated in several petition that Lord Vishwakarma made this temple during the beginning of the universe. The petition filled in the court need access to this place for survey.

Muslim community on survey and violence.

According to them the is an attempted to unwanted communal harmony among the people. They further said that Sambhal court survey order is wrong as referring to Supreme court worship act 1991, which stated that all religious places that existed in 1947 will remain in their current location.

They also stated that it is an important historic site for them also as their community is offering prayers in this area for several centuries now, further they also said that they will reach to high court if they do not receive a satisfactory order by the local court in the area.

According to this reports Muslim community is referring to section 4 of the place of worship act 1991 under a special provision. According to this act bar filling of any suits or initiating any legal proceeding for a conversion of the religious character of any place of worship as existing on august 15, 1947. It also prohibits conversion of any place of worship.

The condition of Sambhal area now.

After the violence internet was banned in the area, banning or collecting stones, banning of flammable and explosive items, there were removal of construction items by municipal corporation of the area and this also led to closing of office, schools and colleges. Apart from this sambhal district magistrate issued a that no one can enter in the area until the order from the authorities in this area.
