Uttar Pradesh: Mission Shakti Phase-5 Awareness Campaign for Women and Girls
Under the Uttar Pradesh Government’s “Mission Shakti Phase-5,” a series of awareness programs have been organized in Gorakhpur to ensure the safety, respect, and empowerment of women and girls. Under the guidance of the Senior Superintendent of Police and the Superintendent of Police (Crime), the Police Department, with the help of female officers, carried out awareness campaigns in major markets, schools, colleges, religious sites, intersections, and other key locations.
Mission Shakti Phase-5 : Awareness About Women’s Safety and Empowerment Schemes
As part of this campaign, female police officers provided information to women and girls about various government schemes, such as:
- Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana
- Destitute Women Pension Scheme
- U.P. State Rural Livelihood Mission
- Banking Correspondent Sakhi
- Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao
- Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
- Pradhan Mantri Swamitva Yojana
- One Stop Center
- Ayushman Bharat Yojana
- Mahila Shakti Kendra Yojana
- Chief Minister Abhyudaya Yojana
- Mahila E-Haat Yojana
Additionally, information was shared about police-related helpline numbers such as Women Power Line 1090, Police Emergency Service 112, Women Helpline 181, Cyber Crime Helpline 1930, etc.
Awareness Campaign in Schools and Colleges for Girls
Under the guidance of Tiwari Pur Police Station, awareness was raised in schools regarding education, sports, and the concept of Good Touch-Bad Touch. Students were informed about ways to protect themselves from crimes and encouraged to attend school regularly.
Chiliya Tal Police Station also conducted awareness campaigns in schools, informing students about Mission Shakti Phase-5 and the related schemes.
Measures to Protect Women and Girls from Cybercrime
Badhlega and AIMS Police Stations carried out awareness campaigns in schools, banks, and rural areas, educating women about cybercrime. Information was shared about crimes occurring during financial transactions and biometric withdrawals in banks. Women were also warned about scams through unknown calls, WhatsApp video calls, and fraud on social media platforms.
Awareness Programs by Women’s Safety Teams
Mission Shakti Phase-5 : The Women’s Safety Teams from Tiwari Pur, Chiliya Tal, Badhlega, and AIMS police stations visited schools, markets, banks, and rural areas to spread awareness among women and girls about various government schemes and helplines.
Cybercrime and Security Awareness
Women were advised not to share their personal details (such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, bank passbook) with strangers. In cases where a cybercriminal threatens to make personal photos or videos viral, women were instructed to immediately file a complaint at their nearest police station and use the Cyber Helpline number 1930.
Additional Measures for Women and Child Safety
Other important helpline numbers related to women’s safety, such as Police Emergency Service 112, Health Service Helpline 102, Ambulance Service 108, and Fire Helpline 101, were also shared. In addition to spreading awareness about these helplines, women and girls were encouraged to immediately contact the police if they face any kind of crime.
Efforts to Raise Awareness in Society
AHT Police Station also conducted awareness campaigns in places such as Khorabar, AIMS, Ramgarh Tal, V-Park, Mohaddipur, Railway Station, and Golghar. These efforts aimed at spreading awareness about security, self-reliance, and issues like child labor, begging, and child marriage.
