Prashant Kishor’s Hunger Strike: A Battle Against BPSC Corruption and Injustice Towards Bihar’s Youth, Highlighting Five Key Demands

Prashant Kishor
Prashant Kishor Declares:
“I am sitting on a hunger strike to protest against the injustice faced by Bihar’s youth, the corruption in competitive exams, and the collapsing education system. I will not move until justice is delivered to the youth.”
Prashant Kishor’s Five Demands
Prashant Kishor outlined the following key issues in his five-point charter of demands:
- Cancellation of the 70th BPSC PT Exam
Kishor demanded the immediate cancellation of the Preliminary Test, alleging widespread irregularities and corruption in the process.
- Investigation into Corruption
He called for a high-level probe into the irregularities and corruption within the BPSC, claiming, “More than half the seats have already been sold.”
- Unemployment Allowance
Referring to the 2015 “Saat Nishchay” (Seven Resolutions) scheme, Kishor urged the government to fulfill its promise of providing unemployment benefits to jobless youths.
- Implementation of a Domicile Policy
Kishor insisted on the introduction of a domicile policy to ensure that at least two-thirds of government jobs in Bihar are reserved for residents of the state.
- Accountability and Transparency
He demanded the release of a white paper detailing irregularities in competitive exams over the past decade and actions taken against those responsible for paper leaks and corruption.

Sharp Criticism of the System
Kishor sharply criticized the state administration for failing the youth. He remarked:
“The mother of democracy, Bihar, has been turned into a state ruled by lathi-tantra (a baton-driven system). Those responsible for this chaos must be held accountable.”
Government Ignored the 48-Hour Ultimatum
Prashant Kishor had earlier issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the government, demanding the cancellation of the 70th BPSC PT exam. He warned that if no action was taken, he would begin his hunger strike on January 2.
As the government failed to act, Kishor initiated his hunger strike as promised. Speaking to the media, he reiterated that this protest is for the youth of Bihar, whose rights and opportunities are being systematically denied.

Broader Implications of the Protest
Prashant Kishor’s hunger strike has brought widespread attention to the corruption in Bihar’s education and recruitment systems. His demands reflect the growing frustration among Bihar’s youth over the lack of job opportunities, rampant paper leaks, and alleged manipulation in competitive exams.
