Kedarnath Yatra: The Kedarnath Yatra is a significant Hindu pilgrimage to the Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. This is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, high in the Garhwal Himalayas near the Mandakini River. The Kedarnath Temple stands at an impressive altitude of 3,583 meters (11,755 feet). Its historical name of the region is “Kedar Khand.”

It was rebuilt in the 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya and holds immense spiritual significance. This year Yatra is scheduled to start on May 2, 2025 at 7:00 AM. Whereas, it will end on November 3,2025 at 8:30 AM. The best time to visit the temple is May to June or September to October.

What are the guidelines and rules to Attend this trek?
Some Guidelines and rules to attend this trek is:
- There is a mandatory registration with the official Uttarakhand Government Portal. It can be done both Online and Offline.
- The visit should carry there Yatra Pass or e-pass and valid ID proof while travelling there.
- There is also a requirement Health or medical certificate, specially for people of 50 year’s and above or one with an health issue.
- One should avoid travelling during rainy season (July to August) to avoid travelling hazard.
Some Guidelines and rules - Carry proper and comfortable clothes, other medical applications and more.
- Maintain the decorum and other rules of the place. One should also avoid Alcohol, non-vegetarian food, and smoking.
- Book hotels or camps in advance at places like Gauri Kund, Sonprayag, or Kedarnath base camp.

Online Registration:
First Visit the official Uttarakhand tourism portal. Then Sign up with your mobile number and ID details. After that fill in the Yatra form with personal information, travel dates, and destination. Then Upload a photo and valid ID (Aadhar card, voter ID, etc.). After this registration will be complete. Now, download your Yatra e-pass, which you’ll need throughout the journey.

Offline Registration:
The offline registration is Available at various checkpoints like Rishikesh, Haridwar, Sonprayag, etc. You should carry valid ID proof and a passport-sized photo for the registration process.
To book helicopter services follow this given steps:

You should First go to the Official Booking Website: https://www.heliyatra.irctc.co.in. This IRCTC portal is the only official site for booking helicopter rides. Then register with your details and enter your Yatra registration number (mandatory), choose your preferred route (most common is Phata, Guptkashi, or Sersi to Kedarnath). After that select a date and book your tickets online. Then Carry a printout of your ticket, ID, and Yatra pass on the travel day. The Helicopter services are weather-dependent and can be rescheduled. It is advisable to book early, especially during peak season (May–June).
