Intercontinental Legends Championship : American Strikers beat Gibbs’ African Lions by 11 runs

Intercontinental Legends Championship : American Strikers on Friday drubbed African Lions by 11 runs  in the ongoing Intercontinental Legends Championship here at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida.

Winning the toss, African Lions chose to bowl first, a decision that backfired.  American Strikers smashed 224 runs batting first as every player contributed something to the team’s total. 

Mehra Shines as Team Posts 224

Opener Gaurav Tomar scored 28, Shoaib Khan added 14, and Ayaan Khan chipped in with 19 runs. However, it was Puneet Mehra who turned the tide, scoring 67 runs off 37 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 3 fours, steering the team toward a big score. 

Later, Kuldeep Hooda’s 41 runs and Manpreet Gony’s explosive 28 runs off just 8 balls propelled the team to a formidable total of 224 runs.

While chasing, African Lions’ openers Shekhar Sirohi (15) and Rahul Yadav (25) gave the team a good start. Skipper Herschelle Gibbs faltered early in the chase as he scored 15 runs in 13 balls.

Nagar’s Fierce 82 in Vain as Africa Falls Short by 11 Runs

After their dismissal, J. Colasawalla (28) and Yogesh Nagar’s blistering knock of 82 runs off 38 balls, featuring 9 fours and 4 sixes, almost took Africa to victory. However, in the end, the team succumbed to pressure and fell short by 11 runs.

 On Saturday, the first match will see the Indian Warriors face off against the Asian Kings at 3:30 PM, while the evening clash will feature the Euro Gladiators taking on the American Strikers at 7:30 PM. 

Intercontinental Legends Championship Showcases Global Cricket Talent

The Intercontinental Legends Championship (ILC), is featuring 6 teams from 6 continents. The 6 teams are African Lions, Trans Titans (Australia and New Zealand), Euro Gladiators, American Strikers, Asian Kings and Indian Warriors. The six iconic teams represent six global regions.

The league stage concludes on June 3, paving the way for the semi-finals scheduled for June 4 at 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM, respectively. The grand finale will be held on June 5 at 7:30 PM. The League organised by  MVP Quest Private Limited and is managed by 100 Sports.
