Football: what is football, how did it introduced, what are the rules of playing this game?

Football: Football is a game that is played between 11 players of two teams. This game is played in a rectangular field. It involves passing and kicking of ball into opposite team’s goal post and scoring points. The teams with the most number of goals wins the match of football. The game should only involve foot of the player and only the goalkeeper can use their hand.

History of football.

American history: –

The origin of football started in or around 2000 years ago in America, during that time Mesoamerican people called “The Aztecs” started a game in which there were two teams who used to play with rock ball. At the end of the match the leader of the losing team leader used to get sacrificed to their deity. This game was called “Tchatali”.

Chinese history: –

Similarly, during 206 BC Chinese also started cuju, but this involves a leather ball rather than a rock ball. This game was played to keep their military safe. During the same time many Greek and Roman countries also started playing the similar game which involved kicking and passing the ball.

England history: –

During 12 centuries in England, a game called folk football was introduced in England. Which was played by locals. But it involves both kicking and punching of the ball which made this game very violent due to lack of rules. And it eventually got banned.

What are Cambridge rules and What is modern football/ rugby?

In the 17th century, football came back to England and was introduced in school but each school has their own set of rules some allowed the use of hand and leg while some only allowed the use of foot.

When some students from these schools came to Cambridge university in 1848, they drafted a set of 11 rules that everyone can follow. They later nailed these rules on a tree on campus. These laws came to be known as the Cambridge rules. These laws help people to make two different sports rugby and football. And they eventually became a different sport. After this many more rules were added to the sports.

After this when British empire started getting expanded, they took this game to various part of the world and eventually increased popularity. After this many domestic and international clubs were formed.

International football.

In 1872, the first ever international match was played between England and Scotland. Which end up in getting draw. Then after 12 years of these matches, in 1883 the first international tournament took place. Which had four national teams which was England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. After this the FIFA organization was founded.

FIFA was introduced in 1904 as an Olympics game which was removed in 1932. After these the FIFA organization decided to take a quadrennial tournament in 1930.

The first ever world cup took placed in Uruguay, it invited all of its member nation, in which 13 teams participated. In the tournament Uruguay won by 4-2 against Argentina. After that the tournament took place after every four years expect 1942 and 1946 due to World War 2. It resumed back in 1950 with a larger global audience as it started getting broadcast in 1954.

At current there are 32 team in FIFA and next FIFA world cup is scheduled to happen on February, 2026 in new jersey.
