Mimicking the iconic character ‘Pushpa Raj,’ Nitish Kumar Reddy raised his bat around his neck, replicating the famous style portrayed by actor Allu Arjun. This unique celebration caught the attention of legendary commentator Sunil Gavaskar, who instantly recognized the reference and humorously remarked, “Oh… Pushpa.”
Gavaskar mentioned the famous dialogue from the movie, “Pushpa jhukega nahi” (Pushpa will never bow down), applauding Reddy’s determination and confidence.

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s century came at a pivotal moment for India on Day 3 of the Test, as the team was battling to avoid the follow-on. In the last 30 minutes of Day 2, India had lost three crucial wickets, including Yashasvi Jaiswal (82) and Virat Kohli (36). On the third day, with the early dismissals of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja, Reddy forged an important partnership with Washington Sundar, helping India avoid the follow-on and reduce the deficit with the opposition.
