Cyclone Dana, As per the India Meteorological department a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal turned into a Cyclone storm “Dana” on Wednesday23 October,2024. These storms are expected to hit area of Orisha-West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island. This state are on high alert as wind speed is hitting the speed of 100-110 km per hour. This storm is expected on either hit on 0ctober 24 mid night or October 25 morning.
What is Cyclone Dana?
Cyclone Dana: The world meteorological organization has been appointed to name the tropical Cyclones on global level. This organization follows a list which is predetermined and assigned alphabetically to rotate every six years. The Cyclone Dana was named by contribution of Qatar and has its multiple derivations. The word “Dana” came from Arabic means “the most perfectly sized, valuable and beautiful pearl”.
Flights and trains cancelled in Odisha-West Bengal area because of cyclone Dana.
All flights from Kolkata international airport and Bhubaneswar airport are set to suspend from Wednesday 9:00 am till Friday. This flight is been cancelled due to predicted heavy wind, heavy rainfall and Cyclone Dana. In the following process Standard operating procedures such as inspection of the airport infrastructure, drainage system and checking, servicing is been installed and carry out. On the other hand, Indian Railways cancelled over 300 trains which includes Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, Kamakhya-Yeshvantpur Express, Howrah-Puri Shatabdi express and Howrah-Yeshvantpur express and etc.

On Wednesday 23 October, over 10 lakh people got evacuated from costal planes to safer places. The Cyclone is expected to hit between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra in Odisha. So costal area like Kendrapara, Bharak and Balasore area is been evacuated. Moreover, fisher man is also been warned due to Cyclone and to avoid any risk. They have been said to avoid venturing. Except from this 20 NDRF teams have also been appointed in these areas to be in standby.

The Orisha civil service prelims exam postponed.
The Orisha public service commission has postponed the exam and reschedule in on October 27,2024 in the following process of the Cyclone. The exam is been postponed in these five zones like Balasore, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Sambalpur. The candidates participating in this exam are been notified through various department of the state government.
The school are been shut in 14 districts of Odisha due to the following cyclone.
The government has ordered to close schools in 14 districts of orisha which includes Angul, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam ,Khordha,and Puri. The school will remain close for three-day October 23 to 25 due to the Cyclone .
