Albina Angan, a 20-year-old woman, has become an internet sensation by sharing her incredible journey of losing 50 pounds after a stressful move led to significant weight gain. Her story is one of resilience, determination, and the transformative power of self-care.

In early 2023, Angan relocated to Istanbul with her husband, excited to begin a new chapter in her life. However, the transition proved to be more challenging than anticipated. The stress of her new environment and demanding work life led her to seek comfort in food. “I didn’t even eat out of hunger, but just out of boredom, anger, and any other emotion I happened to feel,” Angan told Newsweek. This emotional eating caused her weight to spike by 22 pounds within two months, reaching 185 pounds.

The effects of the weight gain were immediate and troubling. Angan struggled with insomnia, felt constantly fatigued, and experienced a worsening of her polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) symptoms. It wasn’t until her mother-in-law showed her a picture of herself that Angan realized the extent of the changes in her body. The image of her swollen face, double chin, and bags under her eyes served as a wake-up call. “I decided that it was time to change something, but I just didn’t know how to start,” she admitted.

Her turning point came in April 2023, when she began to understand the importance of nutrition and how to properly nourish her body. Angan adopted a new eating regimen, centered around intermittent fasting. She started eating breakfast at 8 a.m. and dinner at 4 p.m., with no meals in between. This strict routine helped her shed 50 pounds in just three months, bringing her weight down to a healthy 132 pounds.

The journey was not without its challenges. Angan faced initial difficulties adjusting to the calorie deficit, feeling angry, lethargic, and deprived of her favorite foods. Yet, she noticed positive changes almost immediately, which kept her motivated. “I was so proud of myself, it was as if I was a Victoria’s Secret model,” she joked.

Angan’s new routine included a large, protein-rich breakfast and a smaller dinner primarily composed of vegetables. She aimed for six to eight hours between meals and ensured a 16 to 18-hour fasting period overnight. She also reduced processed foods to no more than 10 percent of her diet.

Her success story extends beyond weight loss. Angan reported significant improvements in her overall well-being. “There is nothing better than a healthy body and mind. By giving your body clean food full of vitamins and minerals, you will become happier inside,” she shared. Her PCOS symptoms, including insulin resistance, have also improved.

Angan’s story, shared on TikTok, has gone viral, with many of her videos receiving hundreds of thousands of views. While some critics have questioned the extremity of her diet, many have found her journey inspiring and motivating. “Half the people online found my posts inspiring and motivating. I’m incredibly grateful to every person who reached out to me, left a comment, or simply believed in themselves after my videos,” she said.

Now, Angan is focused on maintaining her weight and continuing her healthy lifestyle. Her story serves as a powerful reminder that with determination and the right approach, it is possible to overcome significant challenges and achieve one’s health goals.
