Chief Guest’s Presence and Inaugural Address
The chief guest at this grand opening ceremony was Professor (Dr.) Anil Kumar Rai, Vice-Chancellor of Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhawati University, Sikar, Rajasthan. In his inaugural speech, Professor Rai shed light on the importance of the media field and its rapidly changing landscape. He stated, “Today, media is not just limited to being a source of information; it has become the heartbeat of society and a force that shapes it.” With the advent of digital media, social media, and new technologies, he emphasized the need for creativity, innovation, and technical skills in this field. He urged students to keep upgrading themselves with the times, as today’s youth will establish new dimensions in the media field tomorrow.
Prof. O.P. Sharma’s Encouragement and Guidance for Students at Maharishi University Media Fest
In the next segment of the event, the University Director, Prof. (Group Captain) O.P. Sharma, engaged with the students. He remarked, “Events like the Media Fest provide students with a platform to showcase their creativity. This is not just a competition; it offers a stage where students can express their ideas, perspectives, and technical skills.” He encouraged students to recognize their talents and channel them in the right direction for their future. Prof. Sharma believes that succeeding in today’s media world requires not only technical knowledge but also refining one’s thinking and outlook.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) B.P. Singh’s Focus on Education and Innovation
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. (Dr.) B.P. Singh, spoke about the need for innovation and technology in the media field. He stated, “Media education is no longer limited to a simple curriculum. Students now need to focus on research, intelligence, and innovation alongside technology. To become a strong media professional, we must adopt new ideas while continuously expanding our knowledge.” He encouraged students to take their creativity in new directions and present it to society to create a positive impact through media.
Overview of the Competitions at Maharishi University Media Fest
On this occasion, Dr. Shambhu Sharan Gupta, the head of the media department, elaborated on the various competitions held under the Maharishi Media Academic Fest. He mentioned that a total of seven main competitions are organized at the fest:
- News Writing – A chance for students to write real news, demonstrating their writing skills by following accurate journalism methods and maintaining impartiality.
- News Presentation – This competition is for students who wish to test their presentation and communication skills in media.
- Piece to Camera (P2C) – In this, students present an effective and prompt delivery on a real event or topic.
- Poster Design – An opportunity to convey media messages creatively, allowing students to display their design and artistic skills.
- Spot Photography – Students capture current events or situations through their camera skills.
- Short Movie – A competition to create a short film, giving students a platform to showcase their filmmaking abilities.
- Street Play (Nukkad Natak) – A team-based competition where students can display their acting and teamwork.
Out of these, the first five are individual events, while the last two are team-based, promoting teamwork among students.
Presence of Experts and Deans
The program was graced by the presence of Dr. Tripti Agrawal, Dean (Academic), Deputy Dean (Academic), and other deans from all university schools. External experts for the competitions also attended. Their guidance and expertise played an essential role in mentoring students and evaluating the competitions. Their experience and insights were inspirational for the students

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Mithilesh Kumar expressed gratitude to all the chief guests, the university director, the vice-chancellor, and everyone present. He acknowledged the successful organization of the event and thanked everyone for their encouragement and support for the students.
