Drishyam 3 : The Drishyam saga, one of Indian cinema’s most successful thriller franchises, is racing toward its climactic conclusion. What began as a gripping Malayalam original in 2013 has grown into a nationwide phenomenon, with the Hindi adaptations becoming massive box-office successes. Now, after months of speculation, concrete details about Drishyam 3 are finally emerging.
Official Announcement : Hindi Version Release Date Locked
On December 22, 2025, the makers of the Hindi Drishyam series made the much-awaited reveal:
Drishyam 3 (starring Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar) is scheduled to release worldwide in theatres on October 2, 2026 — deliberately timed to coincide with the now-iconic “Drishyam Day” (Gandhi Jayanti), a date that has become synonymous with the franchise’s clever storytelling.
The official tagline, “Aakhri hissa baaki hai” (The final chapter remains), leaves little doubt that this installment is being positioned as the concluding part of Vijay Salgaonkar’s extraordinary journey.
Cast & Crew – What’s Confirmed
Directed once again by Abhishek Pathak, the film brings back the core ensemble that made the previous entries unforgettable:
- Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar
- Tabu as IG Meera Deshmukh
- Shriya Saran as Nandini Salgaonkar
- Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav as the daughters
- Rajat Kapoor in a key supporting role
A major development: Akshaye Khanna, who played IG Tarun Ahlawat in Drishyam 2, will not be returning. Industry reports suggest differences over remuneration and scheduling played a role, especially after his busy 2025 with other high-profile projects. Filling the void is the versatile Jaideep Ahlawat, who has joined in a significant new character.
Principal photography is currently progressing across various locations in Maharashtra, with the team promising a bigger scale, sharper twists, and even higher emotional stakes.
Malayalam Original – Progress & Timeline
The source version — the Malayalam Drishyam 3 starring Mohanlal as Georgekutty — is significantly ahead in the production race. Shooting wrapped up earlier in December 2025 under the direction of Jeethu Joseph, the mastermind behind the original films.
In this chapter, Georgekutty is shown living a far more affluent life: he now owns a cinema theatre and is even planning to step into film production himself. The story continues directly from where Drishyam 2 left off, with the family still navigating the long shadow of their past.
